A few words about me
My name is Liviu-Adrian Sandu, and I am a fine arts artist. This website is a window to the world where I can showcase my work and connect with people who share the same interests.
Born in 1968 in Romania, I graduated in 1997 from the Academy of Arts in Iasi, Romania. The next year I worked as an associate professor for the University and taught drawing at the art school. I spent the next few years freelancing for various American and European companies where I did graphic design, 3D modeling and animation. Here I improved my computer skills and expanded my artistic vision into the digital world. My final goal was to learn as much as possible about three dimensional modeling, to edit virtual spatial forms and human bodies, which in the end helped me to become a better sculptor.
Experience
- Sculpture
- In my sculptural practice, I have recently turned more to clay, which is excellent for exploring different facial expressions. But I haven’t given up stone or marble—I’m still deeply attracted to both. Soon, I will share here some of my works, older and newer, carved in these materials.
- Paintings
- I started painting in the spring of 2017, having never done so before. I discovered a new medium that I truly enjoy and find very compelling. I hope to learn as much as I can about oils, master gouache, and maybe even try watercolor someday. We’ll see what happens next…
- Graphic design
- Graphic design has been a preoccupation of mine since my student years, when I discovered what beautiful things can be achieved with a computer. In 1998, after I managed to buy my first PC, I began working on it in earnest and broadened my knowledge—both in hardware and, more importantly, in graphic design software. I dare to think that I created some interesting, beautiful, and useful work, and I will share it here.
